First of all, this is a semi-detached property, but there is only one neighbour on each side, and if you are worried about disturbing them, then fear not as the owners love to have loud music on from morning until night in the garden, and everyone seems to enjoy it. There is also 100% privacy. Wow, what an amazing property. A five-minute drive from Sax is a lovely location with very good access is this remarkable 7 Bed 2 Bath massive Country House that has been partially reformed to a high standard, but the upper floor needs completing without any major work. Although we are marketing the property as a 7 Bed, we could easily have gone for 10 Bed as there are three other rooms that can easily be made into bedrooms and a large workshop, as well as a very long garage that will probably fit three cars, not Smart cars either. There is approximately 1,000m2 of land to the rear that has a small wooden cabin and an old above-ground water deposit from the days before mains water that can be converted into a swimming pool if required. The garden at the front is a fabulous space to relax and for dining, with a massive covered area with outdoor seating for around 14 people next to a big BBQ. The owners were restaurateurs, and they love to entertain. The ground floor is almost completely reformed, the exception being the big double bedroom, which needs a whitewash and little else.  The lounge/diner is a very spacious area with a splendid feature log burning fire, and in winter, it is especially cosy.  The kitchen and bathroom are brand new and very modern, a super contrast with the age of the property, around 200 years. A passageway leads to the large garage and before that, out to a big patio area and a massive workshop that could be even more accommodation if required.  This then leads out to the land. The upstairs has six bedrooms and one bathroom but the master bedroom has a room alongside waiting to be turned into a spacious en-suite or an en-suite and dressing area. I think for everything else, you should click the 360 tour or the video at the bottom of the description for a far better idea and for the floor plans. The 360 Tour is wonderful. Why Sax? There are no traffic lights, it has a 13th-century castle, one of seven on the castle route but ours is the best and there are no traffic lights, parking meters or fee-paying car parks. What? That isn´t enough? Sax is so popular because it is far enough inland to be “inland” yet it is only 30 minutes to Alicante Airport and 35 minutes to the beach.  Access is by the A31 Dual Carriageway Alicante to Madrid Autovia (Motorway to you) which runs just outside of the town, by rail and coach from Alicante so you can go to the beach and not have to take your car, and now we are only eight minutes drive away from the AVE station at Villena. The AVE is the high-speed train from Alicante to Madrid which has only four stops. From boarding the train will have you in Madrid in 2hrs 9mins for as little as 9€ if you are lucky enough, but around 25€ if not. Let us stick with the town of Sax for now rather than escaping to the beach or Madrid. Sax is dominated by its 13th-century castle known as the Headlight And Guardian Of The Border a landscape of history and rock. When driving back home to Sax after daylight the sight of the castle, fully lit, and seemingly floating in the air is one of the most welcoming sights I have ever experienced. It´s a sign we are almost home. Commercially, is the home of three major international businesses selling “persianas y toldos”, window blinds and sun canopies and a shoe industry that means if you recently bought a pair of shoes in a UK Department Store, for example, the chances are they could have been made in Sax or nearby Elda and we now supply 60% of the footwear used in all Spain´s hospitals. It is an incredible feat. No pun intended. Both Sax and the smaller town of Salinas just eight minutes drive away have close to full employment and lots of opportunity which means our crime statistics are very low and both towns are safe in a way that is hard to imagine if you have arrived from the UK or Holland. Walking around whatever time of day or night is a pleasure rather than something to fear. Sax is small enough for everyone to know each other and a family who has a son or daughter who is a criminal brings shame on the family. I suppose it´s like when I was growing up in the North West during the 60´s. Recently we have seen the opening of a Consum supermarket, the equivalent of a Waitrose or Marks & Spencer Food Hall whilst there has been a Hiperber and Dia, both excellent supermarkets for as long as I can remember, and if that isn´t enough there is a Carrefour (Think Tesco) eight minutes’ drive away within a shopping mall complex that has a cinemas which shows films in English with Spanish subtitles. There are also six gyms in Sax and a superb one in the shopping mall along with Ten Pin Bowling etc Sushi Restaurant and many others. Sax is served wonderfully well with schools, our son was eight when we moved here and reluctantly, we put him into a state school, he always went to a private school in Manchester, and within six months he was fluent in two languages and following five years in a secondary school went on to study Pharmacy at Complutense in Madrid one of Spain´s most famous and prestigious universities.   However, he didn´t like the idea of going into pharmacy as a career so he is studying law and working as my business partner. He already has a diploma in Spanish Property Law. For health, Sax and Spain, in general, is far superior to the UK. In the town, we have a new Health Centre with eight doctors, two nurses, a diabetes clinics and a 24/7 Emergency Walk/In Centre. We have three pharmacies, two of which have at least one person who speaks English and their advice is always excellent. Ten minutes away in Elda is the remarkable award-winning University Hospital El Virgen De Salud where the surgeons are second to none and the food is atrocious, well it can’t all be good!! Newly opened is the Fibromyalgia centre offering support and therapies for those suffering from acute pain. There are now three Language Schools in the town and the town hall ran a scheme for language swapping that may be run again. Learning Spanish is a lot less difficult than it may seem and there are new ways of learning that concentrate on conversational Spanish. There are restaurants and bars aplenty with prices that are at first beyond belief and a three or four-course lunch of good quality can easily be found for 13€ or less. For a special occasion, there is Casa Mami and El Fuente restaurant at the hotel Fuente del Cura which are a little more expensive but great food experiences can be had. Nearby Villena, ten minutes or so up the A31, has some excellent restaurants including the very fashionable Tita´s Gastrobar and the stunning, in my opinion, Condumio. In Elda, ten minutes in the other direction there is Xambel, Xhagar, Fabrica, La Sirena and Tenaz, all very good restaurants and surprisingly inexpensive. In most bars and cafes a coffee and toast for breakfast will cost no more than 2,50€ and the coffee is possibly the best in Europe. Our biggest challenge these days is finding properties as opposed to selling them as Sax and Salinas as both have become incredibly popular as there are very few building permits left in either of the towns and yet they are growing. So, come look around and enjoy.

Fabulous opportunity for a kennels and stables business in an unbeatable location with perfect access and a beautiful house to live in. Located a five-minute walk from the town of Salinas on a tarmac road or a two-minute drive is this lovely traditional Spanish country house with the addition of a series of outbuildings, consisting of 48 kennels and a veterinary area and four stables as well as storage facilities and more. The grounds are beautiful with a pine forest to the rear and easily maintained gardens to the front. A private swimming pool ot the rear of the property and a three/four car carport to the side. The property is entered via an L-shaped covered terrace, which is large enough for outside dining, and the views are spectacular. There is a small hallway that has a door ot the right allowing access to the beautiful L-shaped lounge/diner, which is light, airy and spacious and there are views of the bannisters of the stairs leading to the upper floor and the balcony that looks down on the lounge. The kitchen is traditionally Spanish and by that, I mean not big but actually not small either; however, the integral garage has been converted into a massive kitchen diner with BBQ and cast iron oven with a table and chairs for 14, but the space is big enough for several more. This is a really special part of the property and is quite beautiful as well as practical. Upstairs there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Three bedrooms are spacious doubles and the other a spacious single or nursery or an office. There is excellent Wi-Fi available. One of the bathrooms is stylish or was in the 1950´s, but fortunately, the other is much more modern.

There was a time when the buyers for Spanish properties were nearly all retirees but that changed some time ago and now the majority of international buyers are younger and are looking to start a business and the majority of those are looking at the Airbnb opportunities as inland Spain is desperate for Airbnb properties offering security for bikers and cyclists who often have outrageously expensive equipment and somewhere to stay that is not only comfortable but has great character. La Bodega Antigua (The Old Winery) nails it. This is not some idle boast; I have rarely seen anything that compares for features and character. Airbnb is fairly simple, give them what they want, charge them accordingly and wait for the repeat bookings.  Licenses for inland rural properties have always been the stumbling block, however, this property is situated in a small hamlet, if there is such a thing. Certainly, a large hamlet would fail a grammatical app. So, a small hamlet with full-time and part-time neighbours and a sense of community from a bygone age. Talking of which, The Old Winery was a favourite stop off for the horse and cart transport system 400 years ago - remember to put that in your brochure and marketing. La Bodega Antigua: A Historic Former Winery Full of Character We are thrilled to introduce La Bodega Antigua, an extraordinary and historic country home positioned just 7 km from the vibrant town of Pinoso. While officially located within the Yecla (Murcia) municipality, its close proximity to Pinoso ensures the ideal mix of tranquil rural living and easy access to everyday conveniences. Boasting a substantial 514 m² build size on a low-maintenance 887 m² plot, this impressive estate seamlessly blends historical charm with immense versatility. Once a traditional winery, the home has been thoughtfully updated over the years while carefully preserving its authentic features and rustic soul. Ground Floor Layout & Features The estate benefits from several entry points, though the primary entrance flows directly through the kitchen right by the pool terrace. The Heart of the Home: The fully fitted, country-style kitchen centers around a magnificent traditional fireplace complete with an original bread/pizza oven. It features bespoke handmade wooden cabinetry, extensive workspace, a gas hob, and an adjacent walk-in pantry.Living Spaces: The kitchen flows into a grand, welcoming living room anchored by a second cozy fireplace, with direct doors opening out to the pool. Nearby, a versatile ground-floor double bedroom sits alongside a second lounge. This bright, extended family room features large windows that flood the space with natural light—perfect as an entertainment hub or an extra bedroom.Convenience: A ground-floor family bathroom with a walk-in shower serves the living areas and features direct access to the courtyard and pool, making it ideal for guests drying off after a swim.Character Details: Traditional Spanish floor tiles, exposed timber beams, and a clever under-stairs study/office nook add to the home's historic charm. Upper Level Accommodation The first floor continues the theme of space and flexibility, featuring high ceilings and beautiful vistas. Primary Suite: The exceptionally large main bedroom boasts a dedicated walk-in wardrobe, a stunning handmade wooden closet, air conditioning, and a private en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. This room enjoys sweeping, uninterrupted views over the neighboring almond groves.Additional Bedrooms: Two more bright and airy double bedrooms are located on this level. One includes a versatile alcove (currently holding a single bed) that could easily be transformed into a private walk-in closet or a future en-suite. Outdoor Spaces & Outbuildings The exterior of the property is divided into distinct zones designed for relaxation, hobbies, and practical country living. The Pool & Terrace: A private swimming pool is framed by a generous sun patio, a shaded pergola, and a dedicated BBQ station—an ideal setup for alfresco dining against a backdrop of rolling countryside. The Courtyard: A picturesque inner courtyard houses a historic, functioning well with a 20,000-liter capacity (complete with a pump system to supply the home), alongside log stores and extra storage. The Workshops: Two large attached outbuildings currently serve as a garage/workshop and a creative art studio, offering endless potential for conversion into guest quarters, a home gym, or business use.The Rear Garden: A shaded garden area featuring mature pine trees and a handy storage shed sits at the back, with a wrap-around pathway linking it seamlessly back to the pool terrace. Key Summary Size: 514 m² build | ~887 m² plotBedrooms: 4 to 6 flexible bedroomsBathrooms: 2 (including the primary en-suite)Heritage: Authentic former bodega with original fireplaces and pizza ovenFinishes: Exposed wood beams, traditional Spanish tiling, and handmade cabinetryComfort & Utilities: Air conditioning (master bedroom), gas boiler, and a 20,000L historic well systemLeisure: Private pool, BBQ area, covered pergola, and pine gardenBonus Space: Large garage/workshop and a separate art studioLocation: Peaceful countryside setting just 7 km from Pinoso's shops, markets, and restaurants The Verdict: This is a rare chance to acquire a piece of local history. There are hardly any "doer-uppers" left in the entire Alicante region, such has been the demand for property since the end of Covid. One has to bear in mind the selling price of 115,000€ and the value of the property when it has been reformed, in the region of 300,000€. It needs a lot of work but there is a huge difference between the price and the estimated value. If you can do some of the work yourself, then there are big savings to be made. Just 5 minutes from the town centre, in the Rambla de Puça area, you will find this semi-detached country house distributed over two floors, ideal for those seeking peace, space, and a wide range of possibilities. On the ground floor, the property offers a spacious living room of approximately 50 m² with a fireplace, recently renovated with large-format flooring (1.20 x 1.20 m) and plasterboard-lined walls, giving it a modern and functional style. From this room, there is direct access to a patio of around 80 m², perfect for leisure areas, a garden, or outdoor activities. It also includes a kitchen pending completion of renovation works and a guest toilet with exterior access. The upper floor is distributed into three double bedrooms, a full bathroom, an exit area, and an additional space currently used as a chicken coop, offering multiple potential uses. The property includes a separate 41 m² garage, ideal for parking, storage, or as a workshop. The plot, approximately 5,500 m², provides a spacious and private natural setting. It has mains water for agriculture and for drinking and mains electricity.  A characterful home with generous spaces and great potential, located in a natural environment very close to the town centre. ✅ Key Features  ✔ Just 5 minutes from the town centre of Petrer ✔ Semi-detached country house distributed over two floors ✔ Spacious 50 m² living room with fireplace ✔ Recently renovated: large-format flooring (1.20 x 1.20 m) and plasterboard walls ✔ Direct access from the living room to an approx. 80 m² patio ✔ Kitchen pending completion of renovation ✔ Guest toilet with exterior access ✔ 3 double bedrooms on the upper floor ✔ Full bathroom upstairs ✔ Additional space currently used as a chicken coop with multiple potential uses ✔ Independent 41 m² garage ✔ Approx. 5,500 m² plot ✔ Irrigation water and drinking water supply ✔ Mains electricity connection ✔ Peaceful natural setting very close to the town centre

Sax, Alicante

I think this is an outstanding opportunity to get a foothold in the real Spain, inland Spain, but to be only 35 minutes from Alicante Airport and the beaches and at a truly great price. The location of the property is fabulous and that is not cheap talk as I was a neighbour for almost 18 years, and this property is a little higher than mine and has even more breathtaking views and perfect tranquillity. A 4 Bed 2 Bath modernised Finca in Sax at 229,995€ is a rare find so are there any catches?  No, not really, there is work to do, the second bathroom, en-suite to the Master Bedroom needs finishing off as it is only halfway done. The Walk-In Wardrobe, also to the Master Bedroom needs a little love but the house can be lived in straight away and the improvements can be made bit by bit.  The house is bright and airy and has been modernised really well with some lovely touches. The Master Bedroom will be excellent when completed and the other three bedrooms are all well sized.  The lounge/diner is a great space, again, lots of light and it is air conditioned and there is also a pellet fire, the most economical and clean way to heat a house, there as well.  There is a super new kitchen off the lounge/diner with lots of cupboard space and worktops, and a brand new, spacious, family bathroom as well.  Opposite the kitchen is a passageway through to the three bedrooms so none of the four bedrooms are directly off the lounge/diner, so sleeping and living areas are separated, a feature I prefer.  The property also benefits from oil-fired central heating for the winter months, a rare feature indeed for a property under 300,000€.  Walking past the entrance to the main house, there is a BBQ area with storage rooms and then the biggest outbuildings, a workshop and a garage – admittedly, these are the areas that require the most work but hey also have the potential for change of use and could be changed to a Guest House if required.  To the front of the property is a relaxation area with a huge tree that provides shade for the hot summer months and space for al fresco dining, and of course, the views, which are really very special.  The entrance gates to the property can be adapted to open via remote control and there is a side entrance for people who are not coming by car.  The driveway is long and there is plenty of parking space available.  Running costs are incredibly low. The “rates” are less than 500€ per year and there is mains water and electricity. Water bills are around 200€ per annum and electricity is the third cheapest in Europe, but so many people install solar these days.  Why Sax? There are no traffic lights, it has a 13th-century castle, one of seven on the castle route but ours is the best and there are no traffic lights, parking meters and hardly enough crime to even mention due to the town having full employment. What? That isn´t enough? Sax is so popular because it is far enough inland to be “inland” yet it is only 30 minutes to Alicante Airport and 35 minutes to the beach.  Access is by the A31 Dual Carriageway Alicante to Madrid Autovia (Motorway to you) which runs just outside of the town, by rail and coach from Alicante so you can go to the beach and not have to take your car, and we are only eight minutes’ drive away from the AVE station at Villena.
