San Pedro Del Pinatar is a traditional working town resting on the north shores of the Mar Menor. it has many shops, a modern church and its main industry is fishing . You can see the fishing boats unloading their catch at the fishing port which overlooks the north end of the La Manga Strip. There are some absolutely fantastic beaches in and around the town of San Pedro del Pinatar. Drive out to the dunes of Playa de la Torre Derribada and Llana beach, where there is a sports harbour and a restaurant, along with ample parking.  Los Alcázares has 9 km of coast on the Mar Menor and includes town beaches like Los Narejos and Las Salinas, with extensive boardwalks and a wide range of leisure opportunities.  Stretching for over 16km, the beautiful ‘Blue Flag’ beaches of Orihuela Costa are clean and safe and very popular in the summer for holidays, but during ‘out of season, they are still very much used. Boasting 320 days of sunshine a year, nothing is more relaxing and stress-free than wandering along one of these beautiful beaches in quieter times. Christmas Day is a lovely time with primary tourists on the beach wearing Father Christmas hats, cracking open their bottles of champagne and picnic boxes and enjoying the day on the beach. The local Spanish residents prefer to stroll along the coast on New Year's Day.  In slightly cooler weather, it’s lovely to walk along the beach to Torrevieja from the Orihuela Costa and then back again. The beautiful Orihuela Costa is a fabulous place for residents and holidaymakers alike. The World Health Organisation has deemed this area one of the healthiest places to live.

 

 Travelling from the Orihuela Costa, move even further southwards to the lovely beaches of the Mar Menor and Murcia for a mud bath great to rejuvenate and clean the skin or the wonderful city of Cartagena seeped in so much history you won’t know where to begin.
